Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY)
Rooted in the Swedish Evangelical Mission arriving in 1866. Led by indigenous giants like Onesimus Nesib, it laid scriptural foundations by translating the Bible into Oromo. Formally organized as a national body in 1959.
Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC)
Established through the work of Sudan Interior Mission (SIM). During the 1930s, local believers transformed it into a resilient indigenous movement that saw exponential growth during eras of challenge.
Meserete Kristos Church (MKC)
With Mennonite roots, MKC emphasizes the "Peace Church" theology. It expanded through underground house churches during the communist era, becoming a symbol of enduring faith.
Ethiopian Mulu Wengel Amagnoch Church (EMWAC)
The first indigenous Pentecostal church, birthed from a student movement in the 1960s. Known for its apostolic zeal and resilience during persecution.
Gennet Church (Ethiopia)
A foundational holiness movement instrumental in coordinating national evangelism and theological training for many denominations across the country.
Ethiopian Hiwot Berhan Church
